Group Shoot with Corpus Christi Creators and Tula Blue

This past weekend I finally had the opportunity to attend a meetup with Corpus Christi Creators. They are a local group of photographers, filmmakers, models, and others who get together every month for a group shoot and to network with other creatives in the community. Each month has a different theme and meetups are held at different locations around town. This gives local photographers and models the chance to work together to create unique images and videos every time. I have been following CC Creators on Instagram for a while, but this was my first chance to participate.

The July meetup was held at Lively Beach, a beautiful vacation resort by the beach on Mustang Island, and partnered with Tula Blue, a line of waterproof adventure jewelry handmade here in Texas. Five models in swimwear were styled with Tula Blue jewelry and the locations were split between the swimming pool and the beach. Then for two hours it was pretty much a free for all as fifteen or so photographers and videographers scrambled to get the shots they wanted in the evening light before the sun went down.

It had been more years than I can remember since I went to a group shoot like this. I’m usually very particular about my lighting and prefer to be able to engage with my models more one-on-one, so I was a little out of my element this time. I pretty much had to work with the available light, or lights other photographers were using, and just did my best to look for interesting moments to capture. Fortunately, all five of the models were fantastic to work with and were having a lot of fun with the shoot, which made it a lot easier to get good shots. In keeping with the theme, I went with more of a commercial fashion look for most of the photos. Of course, I had to include a few artistic and B&W images as well.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with the photos that I got from this shoot. And I am very happy about the new connections I’ve started to make here in Corpus Christi! Hopefully I’ll be working with some of these models again. I’ll also definitely be attending more events with Corpus Christi Creators.
